In twelve subsidiaries of Orkla Press Polska, one of the biggest publishing group in Poland, implementation of SPRINT – preconfigured SAP system for middle-size companies – has been completed. The project has been carried out by BCC.
In the framework of the second implementation phase, completed in August 2002, SAP solutions for HR management were started up. The preconfigured HR SPRINT solution, prepared by BCC, was applied at this stage as well.
The project was unique in respect of its organization. Within each phase of implementation the solution was worked out in one pilotage publishing-and-printing company (at the first stage of implementation – Pro-Media Sp. z o.o. in Opole, at the second stage regarding HR – G.P. Media Sp. z o.o. in Bydgoszcz). Then the solution was copied, with delay of one project phase, to the other companies: AWH Edytor S.A. (Białystok), Edytor Press Sp. z o.o. (Lublin), Kresy BO Sp. z o.o. (Białystok), KW Forum Sp. z o.o. (Koszalin), Lubpress Sp. z o.o. (Zielona Góra), R-Press Sp. z o.o. (Rzeszów), Szczecin Press Sp. z o.o., Dolnośląskie Wydawnictwo Prasowe Sp. z o.o. (Wrocław), Tygodnik Ostrołęcki Sp. z o.o., Orkla Media Magazines Sp. z o.o. (Bydgoszcz).
Orkla Press, being part of Orkla corporation, one of the biggest Stock Exchange companies in Norway, owns shares in over 10 press companies in Poland. Orkla controls at the moment 51% of shares in "Rzeczpospolita" as well as shares in regional newspapers: "Słowo Polskie", "Wieczór Wrocławia", "Głos Pomorza", "Gazeta Pomorska", "Kurier Poranny", "Dziennik Wschodni", "Nowa Trybuna Opolska", "Gazeta Lubuska", "Głos Szczeciński", "Nowiny", "Gazeta Współczesna". The companies are involved in publishing and printing sector. The market share of Orkla in press market in Poland amounts to 23%.
SPRINT was integrated with specialized solutions dealing with sales of advertisements space in periodic papers. Aggregated financial data are transferred as reports to the Hyperion Enterprise system used in the whole Orkla corporation.
Implementation works incorporated 12 companies dealing with issuing daily papers and other periodic papers, as well as 5 printing houses belonging to these companies. Implementation of SAP solutions in 12 companies in such a wide scope, in short time of 6 months, was possible thanks to use of preconfigured SPRINT system prepared by BCC. The complete functional and organizational solutions of SPRINT made possible the reduction of time budget and burden of Orkla employees to indispensable minimum.
In the first stage, started in June 2001, the following functionalities were included in implementation of SAP solution: financial accounting, treasury, fixed assets accounting, controlling, materials management, sales and distribution. According to schedule, Orkla subsidiaries started using SAP system in that scope in January 2002.
