Chemical Works Zachem, one of the biggest in Poland chemical industry enterprises, has finished the first stage of SAP R/3 System implementation.

Quick and successful implementation was possible thank to great commitment of the implementation teams and the project management. Simultaneously to R/3 project, they also effected complete modernization of the companys networking and hardware infrastructure. Chemical Works Zachem of Bydgoszcz is one of the biggest firms involved in organic and inorganic synthesis in Poland. They specialize in compounds used for foam and plastics production, and in several hundred of other chemical products. Zachem is a state-owned enterprise with holding structure that comprises eight separate business units, including five production plants employ in total about 2400 persons.
Implementation works carried out by Business Consulting Center (BCC) were commenced in February 1999. This implementation covered all of the eight business units that comprise Zachem holding, including five production plants with their separate accounting, trade and marketing. 250 users utilize the system, what gives one of the biggest SAP R/3 installation in Poland.
In January 2000, the following R/3 modules were commissioned: FI (Financial Accounting), FI-AA (Fixed Assets Management), part of CO (controlling) functionality, MM (Material Management) and SD (Sales & Distribution). Zachem also uses solutions that extend SAP R/3 functionality, including OKG module (Petty Cash Management). Implementation of other planned functionalities in modules CO, MM and SD will be completed by July 2000. TR (treasury management) module implementation is going to be started very soon.
