Sanitec Kolo, the biggest polish manufacturer of bathroom fixtures uses ODC (Obsluga Dokumentow Celnych – Customs Documents Processing), a module prepared by BCC which extends the standard functionality of SAP R/3 system. ODC facilitates bringing down the company costs connected with import and export activities, among others by speeding up the process of recovery of customs duty previously levied on goods imported within inward processing procedure and by taking advantage of simplifications in customs procedures.
ODC module prepared by BCC is meant for all users of SAP R/3 system, who are either importers or exporters. ODC is an extension of the standard R/3 functionality – its implementation does not require any changes to R/3 system used up to this point. Owing to a full integration with R/3, data stored in the system are available for ODC automatically. ODC module is ready to be introduced in any company using R/3 system, it works with version 3.0, 4.5, and 4.6 R/3.
According to Krzysztof Ptak, Sanitec IT Manager, "By using ODC we can take advantage of the simplified export procedure making savings in terms of our time as well as services of customs agency. It also assures coherence of the process connected with export which from now on is imbedded in SAP R/3 system."
Among other advantages of ODC one can mention the possibility of obtaining status of the trusted importer / exporter and taking advantage of the simplified procedures (computer aided settlement of customs charges and adequate documentation are necessary in order to obtain this status), and automatic calculation of customs charges based of tariffs and their settlement within the procedure of inward processing.
