SAP HR system manages the data of 7,000 employees of Geant chain taken over by Real

With BCC’s support Real has completed the transfer of the employee data management of Geant chain, taken over in 2006, into SAP HR. Currently SAP HR supports human resources management of Real for over ten thousand employees.

Last year Real hypermarket chain incorporated into its structure Geant chain. The number of Real stores in Poland increased to 49, which resulted in the necessity to transfer personnel data of over 7,000 people to SAP HR system which in Real supports human resources management.

The project, executed by BCC, started in December 2006. In terms of organization it was quite a challenge, as all the employees’ master data (including administration and holiday information) were transferred to Real’s SAP HR along with their history, collective agreements for Geant chain in Poland as well as critical data on payroll.

On the break of March and April the first payments for the employees of the former Geant chain were successfully calculated in SAP HR system.

Robert Bierżyński, project manager for Real, estimates: ”It was certainly one of the largest such projects in Poland, related to the takeover by a new employer and transfer of a large number of employees from one IT system to another. The project covered the area of payroll, which is critical for the workers as well as for the new employer, so it had to be prepared and conducted with utmost diligence. That is why we decided on BCC’s support”.

The transfer of Geant employees’ data management was not the first HR project conducted by BCC for Metro Group, whose part is Real chain. BCC supported SAP HR implementations for Makro Cash & Carry and Real and currently provides application service support for system users at Metro Group.
