BCC (Business Consulting Center) Poznan company that specializes in SAP R/3 system implementation – since January 4, current year, uses R/3 to manage their own company. For such specific in type service activities, as consulting and training provision are, the unique solution that consists of the modules CO and PS R/3, extended with additional functions, has been used.
"After a few years of fast development, we needed a professional tool to facilitate operating of our company – improve management, optimize resources, and in consequence, to increase profits. That is why, we decided to implement R/3 at BCC. This permits to experience the same benefits as our customers, who use R/3, receive. R/3 implementation at BCC is a good base for further development for many years. Today, we employ several dozens of persons, but we are sure that our system will develop together with our company" – said Michal Jankowski, President of BCC.
Internal implementation of R/3 system at BCC is the first R/3 implementation at the consulting company, which uses R/3 for staff work time management and sale, in Poland. The solution, which enables it, features CO and PS modules and special extensions written in programming language – ABAP. It is an extension of standard functionality provided in R/3 system.
"Thank to this solution, we gain possibility to manage such specific resource as the work time of our staff that we sell to our customers. The system supports optimized planning of the resources usage. It allows registering of the provided services, and finally, their clearing and sale to the customer. It applies not only to services counted in hours or workdays, but also to services defined as projects or single units" – says Bartlomiej Buszczak, manager of the BCC R/3 implementation project.
The solution developed by BCC may be used as well for the companies that have similar service sale model – such as those involved in consulting, advisory and training. These include big legal service offices.
Implementation of R/3 at BCC has also other dimension – training. Participation in BCC R/3 implementation was a field to obtain new, unique experience for the companys consultants, that may be used, for example, at the currently being prepared, pre-configured version of R/3, designed for medium-size companies.
Implementation works lasted from March to October 1999. System was started up in January, because of the financial year beginning. In the first stage, the following R/3 modules were implemented: FI – financial accounting, CO – controlling, PS – project system, MM – material and supplying management, SD – sales and distribution, HR – personnel management. Remote access for employees to BCC R/3 system, on Internet, from any place in the word – respecting any safety principles – is a real 21-century solution.
As soon as this year, we plan to implement the next modules: TR – treasury, FI-AA – assets accounting, and pioneer, as for the Polish conditions, implementation of WF (Workflow – module to support document circulation within a corporation).
