Gorenje is a well known European producer of domestic appliances (washing machines, refrigerators, freezers, cookers etc.). With annual sale of 2,5 million units, it is one of the eight biggest European producers of “white technology”. 94% of Gorenje production is exported to countries all over the world. The 52-year old company has its head office and main production plants located in Velenje, a small town in central Slovenia. Gorenje has a network of agencies in every major European country, including Poland.
Consultants from Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Poland were working together with SAP Slovenia (as the main contractor). The essential audit was provided by SAP Austria.
Works carried out by BCC included expert consulting services in the scope of production planning and management (PP). Gorenje had most of the full functional PP range activated, including: Sales and operations planning (SOP), Long-term planning (LTP), Material requirements planning (MRP), Shop floor control (SFC), Capacity requirements planning (CRP) and Repetitive manufacturing (REM). The system is used by 800 users.
The implementation took only one year – an exceptionally short time considering its scale. Gorenje joined a group of companies using the most technologically and functionally advanced IT tools supporting management.
Gorenje, a domestic appliances manufacturer and the biggest Slovenian company and exporter, started using SAP system. The project was implemented by an international team of SAP consultants, supported by BCC in the field of production planning.
The project was implemented in the mother-company, its auxiliary production plants (IPC, Mekom Velenje, Mekom Rogatec) and in some trade agencies (Slovenia, Austria). The implementation covered the following areas of operation: financial accounting, controlling, treasury, materials management and supply, warehouse management, sales and distribution, foreign trade, production planning and quality management. Within the frames of implementation, the stock control system and production scheduling system (GAPIS) already used by Gorenje were integrated with SAP system.
