TELE-FONIKA Kable SA: optimizing supply chain is a starting point for SAP blueprint

A European leading manufacturer of wires and cables together with BCC is carrying out a comprehensive review of supply chain on the basis of SCOR methodology. The aim of the project is working out a new concept of the company’s functioning, which will finally be supported by SAP solutions.

Supply chain review means identifying the progress of logistic processes, creating a map of materials and information flow, comparing data on the company’s effectiveness with model benchmark indices of the world leaders in the business as well as using best practices to create a target model.

The foundation of the methodology applied by BCC in TELE-FONIKA Kable SA is SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference model), resulting from the experience of Supply Chain Council, a global organization that sets and spreads best standards in supply chain management.

’SCOR is a methodology commonly used in projects of reorganizing logistic processes by the leaders of the world market’, said Bartłomiej Zgryzek, Business and Financial Director in TELE-FONIKA Kable SA. ‘We expect that the merger of world standards with BCC’s long experience in optimizing operations of industrial companies in Poland will help create an effective model of company’s operations and reinforce our standing in the European market ‘.

Piotr Celmer, IT director in TELE-FONIKA Kable SA, estimates: ‘The project of supply chain review shows a close relation between business and IT areas. According to SCOR methodology the project focuses on improving business. At the same time the project execution by BCC consultants with wide experience in SAP implementation guarantees us that the created business assumptions will be easily converted into the language of IT solutions’.

Supply chain review concerns the logistics of a cable manufacturer in its wide sense. Marek Karwacki, project manager for TELE-FONIKA Kable SA, says: ‘We are working on optimizing all the planning cycle, which will take into consideration both external environment, i.e cooperation with suppliers and customers within the supply chain and also internal processes, e.g. stock management. The result of the project will be a new structure of planning management, including all areas connected with customers order execution and management, and uniforming the rules of operations for all the units of TELE-FONIKA Kable SA, which will help to improve and perfect production and commercial actions ‘.

’We decided on implementing SAP solutions because while competing in the world market we must constantly improve the efficiency of management. We expect that thanks to the project executed by BCC future benefits of SAP implementation will be bigger, as the IT solution will support a new, better business model’, sums up Bartłomiej Zgryzek.
