Disk-to-disk backup system
Central backup systems
With the increase in the number and size of business processes supported by IT departments, it becomes obvious there is a need for a centralized backup system for systems that support these processes. A few years ago it was standard to perform all backups on tapes, which entailed a number of disadvantages: continuous investment in the tape library, problems associated with the storage of tapes, the risk of losing data (unreliability of tapes). Globally, it is an expensive solution to maintain, both from the standpoint of finances and the efficiency of the data recovery process.
Therefore, SNP offers its customers proven disk-to-disk solutions. The benefits of implementing the backup system based on the D2D technology include:
- sharp increase in data storage security
- shortened time of creating backups
- reduced time of reading the data from backups
- reduced space taken up by a backup
- safety – the coherence of data after it is stored on a disc
- monitoring and detection of problems; auto-repairs
- elimination of unreliable and nondurable tapes
An excellent solution offered by SNP is the central backup system based on EMC technologies.
The disc data backup solution comprises EMV Data Domain equipment and EMC Networker software. The technology utilizes an algorithm of deduplication, which means that only non-duplicated data is stored. Thanks to this the space needed to store the backup data is smaller. EMC Data Domain supports various operating systems, databases, virtual environments and mass storages, which means that it is an ideal solution for heterogenic IT environments also.
For clients who are interested in ceding the responsibility for a backup copy system, we offer Backup & Recovery as a Service.
