SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (SAP BPC) is a tool that improves planning and consolidation process. The most valuable assets are commonly known Excel interface and pre-defined Excel sheets content which is ready for further usage.
SAP BPC supports both planning types: top-down planning, where the management board sets smaller goals for individual departments and bottom-up, where each department creates its own budget plan.
Consolidation area is dedicated for capital groups that use different accounting standards for each company. Planning is kind of process that exists in all organizations so the BPC planning area is suitable for all companies. With that one tool it is possible to streamline financial department management and reduce time of planning process.
Available variants of SAP BPC
- SAP BPC Standard
Separate server is necessary. This kind of tool is based on SAP BW technology (InfoObjects, info cubes, etc.). Data is transferred from SAP BW to SAP BPC. Account Model type based on web modelling is an asset. This is the only version that supports IFRS.
- SAP BPC Embedded
Deployed on SAP BW server with real-time full data integration. Based on Key Figure Model type which means that modelling is based on InfoObjects in SAP BW.
- SAP BPC Optimized for SAP S/4HANA
Deployed on SAP S/4HANA server with real-time access to data.
- SAP BPC Microsoft
Based on MS SQL Server technology. It provides same features as SAP BPC Standard but could be connected with non-SAP source system.
